Eligible participants must live within Montgomery city limits and be at least 17 years old and no older than 21 as of May 31, 2016. Potential participants must provide two letters of recommendation including one from a school official and another from a community leader who can provide verification of the student’s involvement in service or extracurricular activities. Community leaders include neighborhood association officers, faith-based leaders, coaches or nonprofit and youth service providers.

An agreement to sell the former Montgomery Theatre building at 39 Perry Street – known locally as the Webber Building – to a private developer and allow for its subsequent deconstruction was approved Tuesday by the City Council. The Council approved a Purchase/Sale Agreement and sale of the property for $1 to ELSAJA Dexter 71, LLC, who owns the adjacent building along Perry Street located at 71 Dexter Avenue.

The City Council officially acknowledged March 27, 2015, as “Volunteers' Recognition Day” for our dedicated, caring youth ambassadors. Over 400 volunteers throughout the city are expected to be recognized for their service to young people at Cramton Bowl on March 31st.
