The Small Business One-Stop Shop (SBOSS) program is a comprehensive initiative designed to provide critical assistance and resources to small businesses in Montgomery City and County that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Utilizing funding allocated through the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), SBOSS aims to address the economic challenges faced by micro and small businesses, with a particular focus on those owned by people of color and women.

The program is managed by Gaitway Solutions and will offer a range of support services to help eligible businesses stabilize, recover, and thrive. These services include:

• Access to Affordable Capital: SBOSS will provide support in preparing Small Businesses to access funding opportunities to include training and one-on-one technical assistance. 

• Technical Assistance and Training: SBOSS will offer small businesses access to high-quality counseling, training, and mentorship programs. These resources will help businesses improve their operations, financial management, and overall resilience.

• Networking and Collaboration: SBOSS will facilitate networking opportunities for small business owners, enabling them to build valuable partnerships and collaborations within the community.

• Legal and Regulatory Assistance: SBOSS will provide guidance on legal and regulatory requirements, helping small businesses navigate compliance issues and avoid potential pitfalls.

• Market Expansion Support: SBOSS will assist businesses looking to expand their operations by providing market research and strategies to enter new markets or reach a broader customer base.

• Digital and Technological Support: SBOSS will help small businesses stay competitive by offering support with digital tools, online marketing, e-commerce, and cybersecurity.

• Crisis and Disaster Support: In times of crises or natural disasters, SBOSS will help businesses access disaster recovery resources and support to rebuild their operations.

• Inclusivity and Diversity: SBOSS is committed to inclusivity and equal opportunities, ensuring that all businesses, including those owned by women, minorities, and other underrepresented groups, have access to its services.

Running a successful business isn’t easy. As companies start and grow, they all face challenges, and the last several years have made those struggles even more daunting. To overcome these challenges and equip locally owned businesses with the necessary resources for success, the City and County of Montgomery, Alabama, in collaboration with Hope Enterprise Corporation, have initiated the Small Business Access to Capital Program. This program, funded through the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), aims to enhance access to small business financing specifically tailored to alleviate financial burdens stemming from the pandemic. 

Businesses that qualify can receive loans of up to $500,000 from HOPE to help with any of the following needs:

• Payroll and benefits
• Costs to retain employees
• Mortgage, rent, utilities
• Building Improvements
• Other operating costs
