Busking involves a person or group who provides entertaining street performances for public enjoyment. A person who does this is called a “busker.”

Many artists begin successful careers as street performers. Whether you are a musician, singer, dancer, juggler, mime, poet, magician, comedian or other entertainer, there are many locations throughout Montgomery that welcome busking and encourage you to demonstrate your skills.

Step 1. Obtain and complete the City of Montgomery Busking Application, or Temporary Busking Application. You may also obtain the application at:

** Please note, your presence will be required in order to take a picture for your City of Montgomery-issued Busker’s identification card.

Step 2. After submitting your application to the City’s License and Revenue Division, contact Elaine Rodgers, Safety & Claims Assistant at 334-625-2298 for instructions on obtaining the City of Montgomery Busker’s identification card.

Step 3. Once your picture has been taken, allow up to a week for the busker’s identification card to be delivered to the License and Revenue Division. Once the card has been received, you will be notified by phone to pick up the card and pay for your busker’s license.

• Completed City of Montgomery Busking Application
• Letter of sponsorship from a sponsoring organization
• Copy of sponsoring organization’s state-issued “Letter of Exemption” (if applicable)
• Proof of sponsoring organization’s City of Montgomery Business License (if applicable)
• Your current, U.S. government-issued photo identification
