Liquor License Application Procedures
Please Note: ABC Board requires at least twenty five days (25) for their application process before the City's process begins. Once application is received by the city, we require four to six (4-6)weeks for our process.
Ordinance NO. 13.2021 Amending Chapter 3 of the City of Montgomery Code of Ordinances must be amended to include the filing fees necessary to obtain a liquor license: Ordinance NO. 13.2021
- Go to the ABC Board for application located at 8413 Crossland Loop Montgomery, AL. 36117 (334- 213-6309).
- Call Aimee LaChapelle at (334) 625-2096 for an appointment for the City’s processing. Bring the ABC application and ABI reports for each individual on the application.
- Also, bring the filing fees: Exact Change only in the form of cash, check or money order. Fees will be as follows: Special Events $200 / All other establishments or applications for alcoholic beverage license of any kind or class will have a filing fee of $300. **Please refer to the above ordinance*
- Call the Inspections Department (334) 625-2073 to set up an appointment for the inspection of your building. (Building, electrical, plumbing, gas and mechanical.)
- Call the Fire Department (334) 625-3916 to set up an appointment for their inspection of your building.
- If your application is approved by the Council, the Council’s resolution will be held until you have complied with ALL City Code requirements. Upon compliance, the adopted resolution will be forwarded to the Business License Department for payment of fees and a copy of the resolution will be provided by them for you to take back to the ABC Board.

After completion of inspections and Resolution has been forwarded to the Business License Division, contact the Business License Division at 625-2267 or 625-2057 to get an appointment to complete the City’s process. Complete the Business License Application provided and take it with you to that appointment. Your Resolution will be provided to you by that Division to carry back to the ABC Board.
NOTE: Approval of liquor license is at the discretion of the City Council. To expend funds for remodeling or purchasing building, equipment, etc., before your license has been approved will be at your own risk.
