MCCPL to Host October Job Fair and Singles Mixer

Post Date:October 05, 2018 9:30 AM
MONTGOMERY – The Juliette Hampton Morgan Memorial Library at 245 High Street in Montgomery will host its 2nd Annual Fall Job Fair October 26.

Patrons are encouraged to come dressed to impress and ready to chat with representatives from various organizations:

• PNC Bank
• Elwood Staffing
• Wind Creek Resort
• ABC Board
• Dunn Building Company
• Onin Staffing
• Coca Cola
• MOBIS Alabama
• Montgomery City-County Personnel
• Sykes Enterprises
• Chicken Salad Chic
• US Coast Guard
• Montgomery County Sheriff's Office
• Regions Bank

Prior to the fair, the Montgomery City-County Public Library (MCCPL) will hold a series of workshops and computer classes to help better prepare jobseekers for new opportunities. Job Searching (Parts I and II), scheduled for October 2 & 9, will help job seekers master the basics of the 21st Century job search. Techniques covered range from setting up a new e-mail account to discovering popular websites to find that dream job.

A workshop on Oct. 16 will highlight resources available through the library to help with resume building. Here patrons can learn where to get help at MCCPL with creating an email account, determining what to include in a resume, how to organize a resume and how to create and store an electronic resume. Those interested should bring an old resume or relevant information to be updated.

Finally, on October 23, patrons can continue editing their updated resume and have it reviewed by MCCPL computer lab staff. Patrons will be able to obtain one printed copy on resume paper, compliments of MCCPL. All workshops begin at 10 a.m.

Another event on October 27 at 10:30 a.m. will reward job seekers – or any other interested library patrons – for their hard work. Join MCCPL’s Reference team for its first Fall Singles Mixer titled “Books & Conversations,” which will feature food, fun, ice breakers and music for adults 18 and over.
