OLD BUSINESS

1. Mayoral Veto of Ordinance 24-2024, rezoning of 4 lots located on the south side of Carter Hill Road, between West Haven Lane and Sanford Street, from an O-1 to an R-60-m.  Reasons: (1) This project does not align with the COM’s approach in regards to zoning code and development. (2) Many homeowners adjacent to the housing development do not support a multiple family complex infilling amongst single family homes. (3) The project will also increase traffic and require substantial infrastructure improvements the City is not positioned to fund and execute.

2. Hearing on proposed Ordinance rezoning one lot located on the southeast corner of Mooreland Road and Edgar D. Nixon Avenue (aka 367 Mooreland Road) from an R-65-m (Multi-Family Residential) Zoning District to a B-2 (Commercial) Zoning District.  Planning Commission made No Recommendation.  Motion was made to rezone to B-2-Q, restricted to a car lot only and to use an E.D. Nixon Avenue address instead of Mooreland Road. Motion failed with a 4-1 vote (4 members absent). No Action was Taken.  ((RZ-2022-010)     (7)

3. Resolution approving an application for a Business License for Marco Thornton, d/b/a DMarcos Stoner Café, 3119 Atlanta Highway.  (2)

4. Resolution approving an application for an Alternative Transportation Service by Tametria Dantzler, d/b/a Disability as an Ability Toward Success: Moms on the Move, 3015 McGehee Road.  (5)

NEW BUSINESS

5. Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 19-2024, Pay Raises.  (Sponsored by Councillor Pruitt)

6. Ordinance authorizing payments to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department for patrolling & law enforcement until MPD reaches 400.  (Sponsored by Councillor Pruitt)

7. Ordinance to establish Duties regarding Supervision of Minors within the City; to provide Penalties for Failures to Supervise Minors; and other Purposes.  (Sponsored by Councillor Pruitt)

8. Ordinance amending Ordinance 51-2023, as amended, to change times of Work Sessions & Council Meetings for August 6 and December 3, 2024 to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.  (Sponsored by Councillor Beard)

9. Resolution repealing the legislation which created Montgomery City/County Personnel Board and expressing Council’s intent to adopt an ordinance creating a City Personnel Board in accordance with Act 2024-337.  (Sponsored by Councillor Calhoun)

10. Resolution amending Procedures for the Issuance of All Liquor, Beer and Wine Licenses, Off Premises and On Premises.

11. Resolution approving and authorizing Mayor Reed to make application to HUD for FY 2024 for $1,757,565 in CDBG Program funds; $852,714 in HOME Program funds; $146,691 in Emergency Solutions Grant funds.

12. Application for a Special Events Retail Liquor License by the City of Montgomery Department of Cultural Affairs, d/b/a HBCU Afterglow Concert Series, 355 Coosa Street.   (3)

13. Application for a Conference Center by Tanisha Bell, d/b/a ABJC Conference Center, 3836 Harrison Road.  (7)

14. Application for a Conference Center by  Patricia & Elton Dean Jr, d/b/a Bee Smart Conference Center, 3834 Harrison Road.  (7)

15. Application for a Towing Company by Linares Smith, d/b/a LMS Towing & Roadside Assistance, (No Physical Location).  (6)

16. Resolution appointing A. Diane Burke to the Board of Adjustment by Councillor Riley replacing Jennifer Shaw. 

17. Resolution appointing Jeremy Browning to the Montgomery Clean City Commission by Councillor Szymanski replacing Orlando Ball.

18. Appeal of Demolition of Governor’s House Hotel by Kobi Thaller.

19. Pursuant to Section 11-53B-1 et Seq., Code of Alabama, authorization of demolition of unsafe structures at the listed location:  
• 629 Woodrow Street
• 1200 Grove Street
• 1721 Foster Street

20. Resolution declaring public nuisances, authorizing immediate abatement and assessing cost of abatement of public nuisances on various lots pursuant to Chapter 12 of the Code of Ordinances.
