The Annual Capital City Christmas Parade will take place on Dexter Avenue beginning at 6:15 pm.
2023 CAPITAL CITY CHRISTMAS PARADE RULES & GUIDELINES
Parade Rules & Guidelines are in place to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators and create a fun and memorable evening for everyone celebrating the Christmas season.
DEADLINE TO ENTER: 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023
- Only inflatable Santa figures are permitted in the parade, as the City concludes the procession with Santa riding on a Fire Truck.
- Walking entries are limited to 50 individuals.
- Vehicles displaying commercial advertising, such as passenger cars with company magnets or banners, are not allowed.
- All floats must incorporate some form of lighting.
- The use of bullhorns or similar amplification devices are not permitted.
- Political signage of any kind is not allowed.
- Floats should not exceed a height of 12 feet.
- Decorations shouldn't extend more than one foot beyond the float base.
- Floats carrying children must have a responsible adult on board.
- Fire extinguishers are required for each float.
- No one is allowed to embark or disembark from a float or entry once it has commenced its journey along the parade route.
- Smoking, alcoholic beverages, and firearms are strictly prohibited on any parade entry, both before and during the parade.
- Entries featuring live animals must assign a designated person for waste cleanup, or, in the case of horses, ensure waste containment. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- All motorized entries must have functional tail lights and should not produce excessive smoke.
- All items on any entry must be securely fastened to prevent tripping hazards or the risk of falling into the spectators. Items with sharp edges are not permitted.
- All drivers MUST possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Participants are not allowed to move about the float during the parade.
- Motorcycle clubs are not permitted to perform stunts along the parade route. Only those in a riding club will be allowed.
- For flatbed truck floats, participants must not sit with their feet hanging over the sides, must not sit with their backs to the edges unless walled, no more than 3-5 people should stand on the flatbed, handholds should be in place for standing riders, and standing is only allowed toward the middle of the flatbed.
- For pickup truck floats, participants may stand only if the sides are walled to waist height, and sitting on walls, roof, or hood of the truck is not allowed.
