Two former Montgomery natives and Alabama football legends will be in the capital city for a charity softball game. Current New England Patriots linebacker Mack Wilson, Sr., and Detroit Lions DB Shaun Dion Hamilton are coming to Riverwalk Stadium to support the Make Difference Foundation on April 9 for the Inaugural Mack Wilson Celebrity Softball Game.
What: Inaugural Mack Wilson Celebrity Softball Game
When: Saturday, April 9, 2022. Gates open at 11 a.m.
Where: Montgomery’s Riverwalk Stadium, 200 Coosa St.
Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed, who also played college football, will throw the first pitch. The event features other professional athletes, including Jarvis Landry, A.J. Green, Jacob Phillips and Jadeveon Clowney with the Cleveland Browns.
Proceeds will go to the Make A Difference Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the cultural, educational, economic, and social enrichment of underprivileged youth.
In addition, funds will also be donated to the Kulture City, nonprofit advocating for increased sensory accessibility and acceptance for those with invisible disabilities.
“When I came up with the idea to host the charity softball game, I wanted it to be an event where people – especially youth – can come out and meet with NFL athletes,” Wilson said. “The event’s proceeds will help two nonprofits get new equipment for children and cover travel and expenses for college visits and things like that.”
General admission tickets can be purchased on the Montgomery Biscuits website https://www.milb.com/montgomery.
