The Sixth Annual Montgomery River Region Veterans Day Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, in front of the State Capitol and proceed down Dexter Avenue. Following the parade, the Capitol Sounds Band will perform a Veterans Day Concert inside the City Hall Auditorium Beginning at noon. The event will take place rain or shine.

“The Capital of Dreams Veterans Day Parade is but one way we honor these brave men and women -- many of whom are our family, friends and neighbors -- who have answered the call to serve our nation and protect our freedom. America's veterans exemplify the courageousness and selflessness with which this country was formed, and their steadfast sacrifices ensure the greatest nation on earth will forever endure. As the Best Hometown in the Air Force, we salute each and every veteran, not only today but every day,” said Mayor Todd Strange.

The public is encouraged to attend this event in recognition and support of the veterans who have served from all branches to preserve our freedom and safety in the United States. Approximately 40,000 veterans reside in the river region.

The parade will feature over forty marching bands, floats, Veterans Organizations, ROTC Units, Boy and Girl Scouts of America troops, and other special entries.

The Capitol Sounds Concert following the parade will include the patriotic standards, including “Battle Hymn of the Republic”, “America, The Beautiful” and “Stars and Stripes Forever” to name a few.
