City-County Personnel Hosts Public Safety Career Fair

Public Invited to Learn about, Apply for Police, Sheriff, Fire, 911, Corrections Jobs

  • Date: April 18, 2018 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Have you ever considered a career in public safety?

Are you interested in a new challenge at work or a change in careers? Then make plans now to take part in the area’s first Public Safety Career Fair Wednesday, April 18, from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at Garrett Coliseum.

City-County Personnel invites all interested individuals to stop by to learn about the work of police officers, deputies, firefighters, telecommunicators and correctional officers, according to Personnel Director Carmen Douglas. Participants also will learn about Montgomery city and county public safety career opportunities and be able to apply on-site for available positions.

“Careers in public safety provide a wide range of opportunities,” said Douglas. “If you are someone that enjoys working in the background, then public safety communications or corrections is for you. If you have an interest in the medical field, Montgomery Fire/Rescue EMT is the perfect fit. If you want to be on the front line, then the Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery Fire/Rescue or the Montgomery Police Department is your place.

“Although departments have their own specializations, they all have a common thread and that is to protect and serve,” Douglas said. “This is a great opportunity for the public to receive information on the many career opportunities that Montgomery has to offer in public safety.”

Career fair participants will have a chance to talk to police officers, firefighters, deputies and other Montgomery public safety workers about their jobs; to perform some of their job skills, such as physical agility exercises; and to get an up-close look at specialized public safety equipment.

Agencies taking part in the career fair are Montgomery County Community Corrections, Emergency Communications, City/County EMA, Fire/Rescue, Montgomery Police Department, Sheriff’s Department,

County Detention Facility and Youth Facility.
