Montgomery Clean City Commission (MCCC), MAX Credit Union, AARP Alabama, Walmart #4691 and Gilmore Services will offer free on-site document destruction on December 2 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the south parking lot of Garrett Coliseum, 1555 Federal Drive.

The trail weaves through 176 acres of Lagoon Park’s open space, which encompasses large sections of mature forest, creek-side areas, meadows and wetland. Organizers anticipate holding festivals, events and competitions at the trail in the future.

The Montgomery Clean City Commission’s Litter Initiative expanded its scope to include state right-of-ways, like Taylor Road, Troy Highway, the Bypass and Atlanta Highway, now that ALDOT has granted final approval. To date, the crew worked along county and city controlled roads.

Public safety was a critical component in the success our commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Selma-to-Montgomery Voting Rights March. Thanks to a Safe Routes to Schools grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) awarded to Central Alabama Regional Planning & Development Commission (CARPDC) and the River Region Obesity Task Force (RROTF), each of the schools that participated will receive a $210 stipend.
