The proclamation hearkens to the recent success of the Maxwell Air Force Base Heritage to Horizons Air Show, the biggest air show to visit Alabama in several years. Thanks to the efforts of Maxwell AFB leaders, Heritage to Horizons attracted more than 160,000 people to the area resulting in an estimated economic impact of about $10 million.

Crews collected 4.2 tons of litter along 47.5 miles in Montgomery. More than 26 tons of trash have been removed from Montgomery's streets since the start of the Clean City Commission's Litter Initiative in August. Crews have patrolled 290 miles of streets in Montgomery so far, which is equivalent to the distance from Montgomery to Nashville.
