On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, the Montgomery City Council approved Resolution No. 1-2009 calling for a special election on March 10, 2009 for the purpose of electing a Mayor to fill the position vacated by Bobby Bright on January 5, 2009. If necessary, a run-off election has been set for April 21, 2009. Candidates will have from January 13 to January 27 to qualify.
