LOCATION The Zoo is located south off Northern Blvd. between Lower Wetumpka Road and Coliseum Blvd. Access to the Zoo is available from either Northern Blvd, Vandiver Blvd, or Fairground Road.

ADMISSION The Montgomery Zoo is open year round with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. The zoo opens at 9:00 am and closes at 5:30pm. The last ticket is sold at 4:30 and the major animal exhibits begin going in to their enclosures for the night. The zoo opens at 5:30 pm for Christmas Light Festival.
SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS AND SCHOOL GROUP RESERVATIONS The Montgomery Zoo offers discounted admission for SCHOOL GROUPS of 20 people or more. In addition to the discounted admission for every 20 paying people in your group, you will receive 1 adult chaperone’s admission for FREE. To receive full benefit of the group discount, you must have a reservation. To submit a SCHOOL GROUP RESERVATION FORM, please download the form from the link below. We accept cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa, AMEX and Discover. Military ID must be presented to receive discounted rates and AAA discount with active card.

Guests and visitors may have picnic lunches and snacks at the various shelters, grassy areas, benches, tent areas and the new playground area. No cup lids and/or straws will be allowed for the protection of our animals. All areas must be cleaned after usage to keep our Zoo as clean as you found it. FIELD TRIP FUNDS Also, for schools in need of funds to help pay for field trips, below is a link to Target which grants field trip funds to qualified schools, organizations and special needs programs. HANDICAP ACCESSThe Montgomery Zoo is handicap accessible. In addition, wheelchairs are available for rental at the Zoofari Gift Shop on a first come, first serve basis. Please see someone at the admissions window inside the gift shop for assistance. Wheelchair rentals are available: $8 for a Manual Wheelchair, $20 for an Electric Wheelchair. Rental Deposits: A $5.00 deposit is required for each rental. The deposit only will be returned once the wheelchair is returned to the Gift Shop. ZOOFARI - ZOO GIFT SHOP The Montgomery Zoo's Zoofari Gift Shop hosts a wide variety of items that can't be purchased outside the zoo. Souvenirs, T-shirts, figurines and more can all be found at Zoofari. The gift shop is open the same days and hours as the zoo. STROLLER RENTALS Stroller rentals are available at the Zoofari Gift Shop. Strollers are available on a first come, first serve basis. Single stroller rentals are $7.00 and double strollers are $8.00.
Stroller Rental Deposits: A $5.00 deposit is required for each rental. The deposit only will be returned once the stroller is returned to the Gift Shop. TRAIN RIDES While a walk through the zoo is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, a train ride can add a little touch of excitement! The zoo offers a miniature train that guest may ride for an adventure around the zoo for $3.00. ZOOFARI SKYLIFT RIDES Fly over the Zoo on our new Zoofari Skylift Ride. This open-air skylift ride takes guests over several of our animal realms to the lakefront and then returns to home base. Rides are $4.00 per person, per ride. Riders below 42 inches must be accompanied by an adult.
PEDAL BOAT RIDESVisit the Zoo by land or by water. Soak up some rays and enjoy the refreshing waters of our crystal blue Zoo lake while enjoying a ride on our new pedal boats. Take a ride with friends and family during your next visit to the Zoo. Rental fees are: $8 for the first person, $10 for 2 people, $12 for 3 people and $14 for 4 people. Boats are limited to 4 people. Rentals are 30 minutes.
FEEDING STATIONSEnjoy a unique, one-of-a-kind animal interaction and experience at the new feeding stations at the Montgomery Zoo. They are located at the Asian Koi Fish pond near the Train Depot and at the North American River Otter exhibit. For 50 cents, get a handful of feed and watch how fast you become the animals' new best friend. Handwashing stations are also available at each location. Please wash your hands before and after feeding the animals. This is for your protection as well as the animals. GIRAFFE ENCOUNTER POST Stand nose-to-nose with an 18 foot giraffe has he eats right out of your hand. Visit the Montgomery Zoo's Giraffe Encounter Post located in the African realm near the Overlook Cafe. Cross over a bridge out on display as these huge yet gentle creatures slowly walk over for a gander and a snack. Take pictures, video, and create a wildlife moment you will never forget. Admission: $3.00 per person, includes admission onto the bridge and feed for the giraffes. REFRESHMENTS-CONCESSIONS At The Overlook Café you can enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches and a drink. Or you can sit for a moment and enjoy a tasty ice cream. In addition, kiosks are located throughout the zoo which house drink machines and snack machines for your convenience.
