In 1898, Montgomery Fire Rescue transistioned from a volunteer to a career Fire Department. This change was needed due to the growth of the city and the needs of the community. Over the years, the development and requirements of this city have progressed and so has the ability of the Fire Department. In 1898, firefighters were responsible for extinguishing fires and rendering first aid. As a modern fire department, we now fight fire, provide paramedic service, mitigate hazardous materials incidents, and provide technical rescue needs within our community.
In order to better serve the city, Montgomery Fire/Rescue prides itself in maintaining a reputation as one of the most professional Fire Departments in the entire southeast. This reputation is made possible by instilling three words in the hearts of every member of our department: PRIDE, TEAMWORK, and DISCIPLINE. These words are more than a motto; they are a way of life that establishes a loyalty to protect this city and our fellow firefighters. The members of the-Montgomery Fire/Department are committed to serve and protect the citizens of this city and those who choose to visit. Rest assured that in the event of an accident, fire or medical emergency, Montgomery Firefighters will respond with the most advanced skills and technology to minimize loss of life or property. All assistance rendered in these extreme situations will be performed in a professional and courteous manner.
