Montgomery Fire/Rescue strives to be the finest fire service organization possible by utilizing and developing our members to their fullest potential. By maximizing the use of available resources, we are able to be more responsive to the growth and changing needs of the City of Montgomery. As a result, we have maintained a Class II ISO rating thus providing the residents and business members with some of the lowest fire insurance costs in the area.
The department serves the 175 square miles of the city in a medical, fire prevention and suppression capacity. The department operates its daily activities and functions from a Centralized Headquarters, 15 Fire Stations, 1 training Academy, and 2 Admininstrative Support Facilities with a total of 469 personnel. Of this number, 459 are uniformed and 10 are civilian. 340 uniformed personnel serve in suppression activities and 68 in a medical capacity among 3/24 hours shifts. The balance of the 460 personnel assist in the daily operations of the department.
On average, the department responds to more than 30,000 incidents annually. Our apparatus fleet consists of 15 Engine Companies with 5 of these functioning as Advance Life Support (ALS) Rescue Companies, 6 Truck Companies, 1 Fire Investigative Unit, 8 Advance life Support (ALS) Rescue Medical Companies, 1-27' Dive/Rescue Boat, 6 Watercrafts, and more than 50 support vehicles. The 4 Specialty Units are: 1 Heavy Rescue Team, 2 Hazardous Materials teams and 1 Dive rescue Team.

Our mission is aimed at the preservation of lives, protection of property and the environment within our community from the hazards of fire, medical emergencies, and natural disasters in a professionally responsible manner. To successfully meet the needs of the community, we will continue to establish a mindset that accepts no short cuts in equipment, apparatus, and training required to maintain a commitment to excellence in service and protection.
