Montgomery Fire Rescue entered in to the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge in 2010.  Since then Montgomery Fire Rescue Blue and Red teams have change the history books.  The Scott Firefighter Circuit is now in its 28th year.  The Course is a challenging obstacle course for certified firefighters.  The Course consist of 5 events that are job task related. The stair climb, hose hoist, forcible entry, hose advancement, and dummy rescue drag.  Montgomery has hosted the event in downtown Montgomery Al. since 2011. The Worlds Challenge was hosted in Montgomery back to back years 2015 and 2016.  Over a dozen MFR combat challenge firefighters have run a time under 1:39 and made it into the coveted Lion’s den.  The MFR teams have won dozens of first place ribbons in regional events all over the southeast US.  In 2014 the team took its first place in the US Nationals event in Tyler Texas.  The momentum set them up for the feature race in phoenix Arizona in 2014.  Their 1st place win over Whiteman Air Force Base really put Montgomery on the map.  They broke the relay course record in 2014 with a 1:07.22, the previous record had stood for almost a decade. The Team continued to win many regional events, including Grand National Champions in 2015.  In front of a great home town crowd MFR Blue won their 2nd world title in 2015. Louisville Ky. hosted the 2017 world challenge, and the Blue team won their 3rd world championship in 4 years.  MFR has traveled to Sacramento, California to defend their title in October 2018.  The MFR Blue relay team came out on top again to win their 4th World Championship. In the 27 year history of the challenge, no team has ever won 4 championships! The 2019 season has been another successful season. Firefighter Jake Lanier wins 1st place overall, the fastest firefighter in the world with a 1:17.77.  MFR Blue takes a 5th world championship in home town Montgomery. The team was sidelined while our department responded to the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic. We look forward to returning to competition in the near future.
