Deputy Chiefs

Deputy Chief Thompson originally joined the department in 1980 and retired after 23 years of police service in February 2003. He later rejoined the department in January 2007 in the same capacity in which he retired. During his absence, he served as Chief Deputy of the Watauga County Sheriff's Office in Boone, North Carolina. He's a 1994 F.B.I. National Academy Graduate.

DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE: LT. COL. K.J. MURPHY

Deputy Chief Murphy originally joined the department in June 3, 1986. He is a 2000 graduate of the FBI National Academy and commanded our Patrol Division from November 2001 to June 2007. He has a BS degree from AUM. He also worked for the Ozark P.D. before moving to Montgomery.
