Armory Learning Arts Center

Montgomerians of all ages discover the joy of art, music and gymnastics at the Armory Learning Arts Center. The 34,406-square foot, one-time National Guard Armory was renovated in 1983 and designed to support comprehensive art, music, dance and gymnastic instruction. The facility includes 3 dance studios for ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance classes, an art gallery, fun studios for art, drama and music workshops and the city’s only public photography lab. The regionally acclaimed Alabama Dance Theater Company also makes the Armory its home and brings some of the nation’s finest dancers and instructors to the Capital City. Classes and workshops run continuously.


Armory Gymnastics Center

The Armory Gymnastics Center, 26,000 square feet of state-of-the-art gymnasium space, features equipment and instruction for specialized gymnastics training. Classes in tumbling, cheer stunts, and gymnastics skills are offered for all ages. Fully competitive teams, for both boys and girls, make up an award winning, nationally recognized gymnastics program.

Community Centers
With 24 Community Centers in Montgomery, everyone can stay close to home and still enjoy the games they like to play. Activities for youth range from basketball to bingo and movies to martial arts. Eight (8) of the centers are located adjacent to public junior high schools and also serve as hubs for junior high athletic programming. Gymnasiums, playgrounds, walking tracks, and open space are offered at a variety of the centers’ providing enjoyable leisure opportunities for all ages.

Senior Adults
The ‘young at heart’ can enjoy recreation activities ranging from bowling to bridge, and sewing to singing at 12 different centers throughout the city. Two centers, Crump and Loveless, offer daily specialized activities for seniors, including trips, crafts, exercise and educational programs. Unique special events bring the seniors from across the city together to celebrate holidays, play in tournaments and enjoy various venues throughout the city.
