The following City Council Agenda Items were heard and passed during March 7th’s meeting:

The following Public Hearings were held and Ordinances adopted during the City Council meeting:

 

  • Public Hearing on proposed Ordinance amending Code of Ordinances of the City of Montgomery, Chapter 5, Article IV/ Electrical; Code, Section 5-123 Permit Inspection fees.
  • Public Hearing on proposed Ordinance adopting the “Technical Codes of the City of Montgomery”: consisting of:   International Building Code 2015, International Fuel Gas Code 2015, International Mechanical Code 2015, International Plumbing Code 2015, International Property Maintenance Code 2015, International Residential Code 2015, International Energy Conservation Code 2015, International Existing Building Code 2015, and International Swimming Pool and Spa Code 2015, with deletions and amendments, and repealing Code of Ordinances, Chapter 5, Articles I, III, V, VI, VII and IX.  
  •     Hearing on proposed Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 30-2000 revising Master Plan to allow senior living whereas commercial use was approved and revise guidelines for senior living development for property located on the west side of EastChase Lane, approximately 600 feet south of EastChase Parkway, in a PUD (Planning Unit Development) Zoning District.  Recommended by the Planning Commission.  (RZ-2000-020) 
  •    Hearing on proposed Ordinance rezoning one parcel of land located at 3535 Ashley Road from an AGR-1 (Residential Agriculture) Zoning District to an R-75-d (Duplex Residential) Zoning District.  Recommended by the Planning Commission.  (RZ-2017-013)
  •    Hearing on proposed Ordinance rezoning one parcel of land containing 1.99 acres located on the west side of Birmingham Highway, approximately 1500 feet south of Twin Lakes Parkway, from an M-3 (General Industrial) Zoning District to an R-125 (Single Family Residential) Zoning District.  Recommended by the Planning Commission.  (RZ-2017-001)
  •    Hearing on proposed Ordinance rezoning 8.35 acres located on the north side of Prince Street, between North Court Street and North McDonough Street, from R-60-d (Duplex Residential) and M-1 (Light Industrial) Zoning Districts to an M-3 (General Industrial) Zoning District.  Recommended by the Planning Commission.  (RZ-2017-002)
  • Hearing on proposed Ordinance amending Appendix C – Zoning, Article VI, Section 10.14.2, Article 5, Section 5.6.8 (T5) Signage Standards.  Recommended by the Planning Commission.

     

    The following Applications were approved by the City Council:

     

  • Application for Retail Beer and Retail Table Wine (Off Premises Only) by PRA Operating LLC, d/b/a Z Tec 645, 1300 Eastern Boulevard.
  • Application for a Transportation Network Company by Lyft, Inc., San Francisco, CA.
  • Application for a Special Events Retail Liquor License by Downtown Brew LLC, d/b/a Autism Crawfish Boil, 12 West Jefferson Davis Avenue.

     

    The following Resolutions were adopted by the City Council: 

  • Resolution authorizing IDB to negotiate tax incentives for Gherhardi, Inc.
  • Resolution declaring public nuisances, authorizing immediate abatement and assessing cost of abatement of public nuisances on various lots pursuant to Chapter 12 of Code of Ordinances.
  • Resolution assessing the cost of abatement of unsafe structures on various lots pursuant to Section 11-53B-1 et Seq., Code of Alabama.

     

    Pursuant to Section 11-53B-1 et seq., Code of Alabama the following structures were authorized for demolition:

  • 513 Herron Street (Parcel # 11 01 12 3 013 002.000).
  • 3996 Macedonia Drive (Parcel # 15 01 11 4 000 001.000).
  • 1669 Opp Street (Parcel # 10 03 06 1 008 008.000).
  • 2342 East Fourth Street (Parcel # 10 04 17 4 022 001.000).

     

    The following individuals were reappointed to a municipal board:

  • Resolution appointing Ernest Finley to the Board of Trustees
  • Resolution appointing Beverly Lynn to the Montgomery Clean City Commission
  • Resolution appointing Stacy Tranthem to the Montgomery Clean City Commission
  • Resolution appointing Jerome T. Moore III to the Planning Commission
  • Resolution appointing Bronett Terrell to the Community Action Committee

 

The following items were carried over until the February 7th meeting:

  • Pursuant to Section 11-53B-1 et Seq., Code of Alabama, authorization of demolition of unsafe structure at 504 W. Patton Avenue (Parcel # 11 07 25 4 006 022.000).
  • Hearing on proposed Ordinance amending Appendix C – Zoning, Article VI, Sections 8.4, 8.5 and 8.6 (Landscape Requirements).  Recommended by the Planning Commission.
  • Pursuant to Section 11-53B-1 et Seq., Code of Alabama authorization of demolition of an unsafe structure at 1520 French Street (Parcel # 10 03 06 4 011 004.000).
