The following City Council Agenda Items were heard and passed during February 7th’s meeting:

The following City Ordinances were passed by City Council:

  • Ordinance altering and enlarging the Corporate Limits of the City of Montgomery by including within the Boundaries of the said City and Incorporating into contiguous Council District that real property described herein.  (6954, 6960, 6978, 6984, 7030, 7048 Epperson Drive, Charlie Brassell Lane Properties 5-7 – Council District 1)
  • Ordinance altering and enlarging the Corporate Limits of the City of Montgomery by including within the Boundaries of the said City and Incorporating into contiguous Council District that real property described herein. (6991 Lakeview Drive – Council District 1)
  • Ordinance altering and enlarging the Corporate Limits of the City of Montgomery by including within the Boundaries of the said City and Incorporating into contiguous Council District that real property described herein. (6984 Lakeview Drive – Council District 1)
  • Ordinance altering and enlarging the Corporate Limits of the City of Montgomery by including within the Boundaries of the said City and Incorporating into contiguous Council District that real property described herein. (6978 & 7000 Lakeview Drive – Council District 1)
  • Ordinance altering and enlarging the Corporate Limits of the City of Montgomery by including within the Boundaries of the said City and Incorporating into contiguous Council District that real property described herein.  (925 Mister Lake Court – Council District 1)
  • Ordinance altering and enlarging the Corporate Limits of the City of Montgomery by including within the Boundaries of the said City and Incorporating into contiguous Council District that real property described herein. (932 Mister Lake Court – Council District 1)
  • Ordinance authorizing Land Exchange of Real Property between the Archdiocese of Mobile and the City of Montgomery.

The following City Ordinance was carried over:

  • Ordinance amending Chapter 12 Environment, Sections 12-31 and 12-37 of the Code of Ordinances.  (Sponsored by Councillor Lyons) (Carried over 12-20-16 and 01-03-17) for 30 days. 
  • Ordinance adopting the “Technical Codes of the City of Montgomery”: consisting of:   International Building Code 2015, International Fuel Gas Code 2015, International Mechanical Code 2015, International Plumbing Code 2015, International Property Maintenance Code 2015, International Residential Code 2015, International Energy Conservation Code 2015, International Existing Building Code 2015, and International Swimming Pool and Spa Code 2015, with deletions and amendments, and repealing Code of Ordinances, Chapter 5, Articles I, III, V, VI, VII and IX.  (To be carried over to March 7, 2017 for action following public hearing.)
  • Ordinance amending Code of Ordinances of the City of Montgomery, Chapter 5, Article IV/ Electrical; Code, Section 5-123 Permit Inspection fees.  (To be carried over to March 7, 2017 for action following public hearing.)

    The following Applications were approved by the City Council:

  • Application for a Restaurant Retail Liquor License by So Gong Dong Tofu Village Inc., d/b/a So Gong Dong Tofu Village, 1633 Eastern Boulevard.
  • Application for a Lounge Retail Liquor – Class I License by Taste LLC, d/b/a Taste, 5251 Hampstead High Street.

    The following Resolutions were adopted by the City Council: 

  • Resolution setting public hearing on proposed Ordinance amending Code of Ordinances of the City of Montgomery, Chapter 5, Article IV. Electrical Code, Section 5-123 Permit Inspections Fees, for March 7, 2017 at 5:00 p.m., and directing Clerk to advertise resolution.
  • Resolution setting public hearing on proposed Ordinance adopting the “Technical Codes of the City of Montgomery” consisting of:  International Building Code 2015, International Fuel Gas Code 2015, International Mechanical Code 2015, International Plumbing Code 2015, International Property Maintenance Code 2015, International Residential Code 2015, International Energy Conservation Code 2015, International Existing Building Code 2015, and International Swimming Pool and Spa Code 2015,  with deletions and amendments, and repealing Code of Ordinances, Chapter 5, Articles I, III, V, VI, VII and IX, for March 7, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. and directing Clerk to advertise resolution.
  • Resolution assenting to the Vacation of island right-of-way on Interstate Park Drive.
  • Resolution authorizing Mayor Strange to execute Easement to Alabama Power Company for the purpose of constructing and maintaining electricity lines for power.
  • Resolution assessing the cost of demolition of unsafe structures on various lots pursuant to Section 11-53B-1 et Seq., Code of Alabama.
  • Resolution declaring public nuisances, authorizing immediate abatement and assessing cost of abatement of public nuisances on various lots pursuant to Chapter 12 of Code of Ordinances.

    Pursuant to Section 11-53B-1 et seq., Code of Alabama the following structures were authorized for demolition:

    The following individuals were reappointed to a municipal board:

  • Resolution reappointing K. T. Brown to the Board of Adjustment by Councillor Burkette.
  • Resolution appointing C. Winston Sheehan Jr, to the Industrial Development Board by Councillor Pruitt.
  • Resolution reappointing James Reid to the Planning Commission by Councillor Pruitt.
