City initiative collects more than 20 tons of litter in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY – Crews have removed nearly 20 tons of litter across 206 miles in Montgomery since the start of the Clean City Commission's Montgomery Litter Initiative in October. For the month of January, crews collected 4.5 tons of litter scattered along 41 miles.

Although these numbers are massive, these totals are associated exclusively with the Clean City Commission’s fight against litter in Montgomery. The City of Montgomery Sanitation and Street Maintenance Departments also pick up litter accumulating along roadways, public properties and parks located within “hotspot” areas.  Visit data.montgomeryal.gov to see results by month, day and pound.
